DOG CONTROL OFFICER

Welcome to the Dog Control Officer page for the Village of Lake George!

Welcome to the Dog Control Officer page for the Village of Lake George! The Warren County Sheriff’s Department handles all dog control calls for both the Village and Town of Lake George, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community and its pets. The Dog Control Officer is responsible for enforcing local laws regarding dogs running at large, licensing requirements, and addressing complaints. They also work closely with Warren County Public Health to handle reports of dog bites, ensuring rabies vaccinations are up-to-date and conducting follow-ups as needed.

By New York State law, all dogs must be licensed and vaccinated against rabies. Licensing your dog not only complies with the law but also helps reunite you with your pet quickly if they are found running at large. Dogs found unlicensed or running loose are taken to the Glens Falls Animal Hospital. For concerns about wild animals, please contact the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) at 518-623-1240. Explore this page for more information about our dog control policies and resources.
